Lorilee: Flight to Zorzen

You’re probably going to see several of this author’s covers over the next few days. Be warned.

So … an alien made of knitting scraps?

He also appears to be two dimensional.

Looks like they got photobombed by Thing from the Adams Family, sitting there on Shaggy Alien’s shoulder.

So many things on this cover make me smile.

None of them in the way the designer intended them to.

She musta bumped her noggin in that airplane crash. I like the touch of the raptors dancing around Lorilee’s head like tweety birds flying about a dazed cartoon character head. Adds a fantasy element to a old cliche.

I believe that thing in the ball cap and tan shirt is a llama, as in Llamas with Hats. My money’s on Carl moonlighting here and waiting to decapitate alien tourists and crash survivors. Although, I think the animation in Llamas with Hats is much better than this art. No, really.

Not familiar with the llamas, Carl and Paul, and their antics? Well, you’re missing something especially twisted and funny.

Thanks for sharing! Truly twisted.

I think Carl is the illustrator responsible each and every lousy book cover, ever.

Carl is bloody talented, for sure.

My children introduced me to the llamas. Clearly, I need to be a better mother and monitor their web time more closely. :-/

Now, where did I put that pan of crescent rolls?

To keep it straight: Lorilee is the daughter (Divided Worlds Books 4, 5, 6), Moira is the mother (Books 1, 2, 3), and the worlds are Earth and Akrasia. The other covers are plates of awesomeness too. There will be a test at the end of the semester.

I just noticed the Divided Worlds series includes “Flights” “from Akrasia” “to Zorzen” — A to Z.

Looks like the flight to Zorzen had a rough landing.

I love it when artists turn their “O”s into boobies!
