When the most convincing image on your cover is the tiled wall of a public bathroom, its time to call for help. Have you never been outside after dark? The night sky doesn’t look like that.

Oh, and take that junk heap of a car into the shop, because its belching so much oily smoke that its obscured the lower corner of your cover in an inky mess.

And finally, your main character looks like a one of those cut-out movie posters you often see in the theater lobby, except blurry and boring and floating in mid-air all at once. Blech!

This might be a great story, but with a cover like this most people will never take the time to find out.

I object to the idea that courage has different genders, or that different genders have different types of courage.

The cover? Well, publishing a book with that cover definitely takes courage, that’s fer damn sure.
