New Covers For Old 2026: Day VI

There’s a move to adequacy (or at least toward adequacy) in almost all cases; on the other hand, there’s also a clear give-up.

I see the illustrators of Really? demanded to be taken off the cover, which doesn’t strike me as a bad choice on their part.

The cover of Dream Catcher is better from a technical standpoint, but it also looks like the cover of a completely different book. To me, the new cover screams, “Middle grade fantasy, aimed at 8-10 year old girls who like princesses.” If it is that, the Amazon blurb gives no indication.

It pains me when the art for a new cover has improved enough that the book should no longer feature here….but then the typographic choices are so bad that it still deserves to be here.
