Today’s Scores: Hunted– Apparently she no longer felt the need to show her bestseller status. I don’t understand what happened to the man to make him blue, but at least it’s better than the uncanny-valley hands.
Final verdict: Slightly better.
The Color of Autumn – Well, the author’s name vanished, but at least he left some horrible kerning in the title. Also, I genuinely don’t know what’s up with the heads in the background. I’m happy to get the strange-looking image of two people dancing(?) off my screen, at least.
Final verdict: It’s a big step forward, at least.
The Long Road to Loving Jackson – Is the woman loving Jackson, or is the man’s name Loving Jackson? I’m so confused.
At least there’s no one staring into my soul though.
Final verdict: They did something good, at least.
Crowning Mercy – Oh god.
What have you done, Paul Camster?
The previous cover was fine, Paul.
It didn’t need “improvement”.
Final verdict: Why.
Circles in Stone – You know what? I think the change helped.
Final verdict: Slightly better.
First Cut – I liked the blurb…
Well, at least we see the front of the main character.
Final verdict: Not improved.
The Belt Stories – Looks like somebody found the Photoshop filters.
Final verdict: Slightly worse. The fonts aren’t saving you this time, Roger.
Carrie Piper – A decent background image with abysmal text design, or AI slop?
Final verdict: I prefer the AI. You don’t need two colors for a single title, another one for your name, and another for the plot description.
Lily – The first cover was actually good.
Why does this keep happening?
Final verdict: The quality fell off a cliff.
Aye of the Tiger – a) That’s a stupid pun, and b) what is the book even about?
Final verdict: I think I prefer the pirate tiger, especially because of the little speech bubble they added to make sure you understood the pun.
Final Scores:
Improved: 5
Worsened: 4
No change: 1
