Art deco font? Really?
The best thing that I can say here is, the shiny bayonet isn’t hidden by the text.
I too wonder at the initials “V.D.” In smaller font. I do have some suggestions for their meaning…

The v and d are probably lowercase because they are a part of the last name that is considered less relevant, e.g., something like Robert von der Weide. Such abbreviations are not uncommon in languages featuring such names such as German or Dutch.

Of course that doesn’t take away from the awkward spacing/kerning of the byline and the appallingly faux small caps.
