Volokh Conspiracy legal website reports that legal briefs generated by ChatGPT get tossed out of court because the supporting court case citations in the brief reference non-existant court cases (the footnote citations are in perfect format, but many of the cited cases are hallucinated by AI).

Ermmmm…. there are currently nearly eight billion people in the world – if we assume that a good 90% of them are ‘strangers’ to this author… this is going to be one hell of a long book series!
