New Covers For Old 2021: Day VII

Democracy dies in darkness. Or something. All I know is, your vote for the first annual Lousies will help keep freedom’s flame bright and toasty.

In today’s installment of New Covers For Old 2021, there are several in here who have redeemed themselves from Purgatory. There are also several whose new version is just as worthy of a spot here at LBC as the old version.

“Ian” came this close but then the author had to get super-clever with her name…

“Dire Wolf” is better…but loses too many points for essentially illustrating the title: a picture of a wolf and “Stole My Heart” surrounded by (wait for it) hearts.

“Belmundus”—nope.

“Princess Gives it Away”—nope.

“Thunderstone” is only better because the original was so bad. Still no cigar.

“Counterfeit Betrothal”—might be something to be said for the cover if the competition were for most boring…with the runner-up prize going to the most blatant cut and paste.

“Maid for Mayhem”—well, well! This isn’t too bad at all! I little over-thought, perhaps, with the blood-splattered title and decorative brackets—to say nothing of the transparent police tape and the silly little blood drool on the column (I would have put some blood on the bucket and called it quits), but otherwise not badly thought-out and not too badly executed.

“Heart of Hannen”—nope, nope nope. At least the book has a map. I like books with maps.
