One question: Does it have twists?
Three reasons not to write blurbs like this:
1. Nobody likes to be told “You will enjoy this!”
2. Everyone wants to know about the content, not the author’s ego.
3. This kind of advertisement makes people think of radio stations that blather on and on and on and on about how they’re the “all-music station, all music, no talk, all the time; yep, the all-music station! That’s all we do: just music, never talk! That’s right, folks, we’re the all-music station!”
Yes, but is it a mystery thriller?
Twist number one: there really is a plot! Not at all what one would expect from the blurb.
But is it gripping? If it’s not gripping I don’t want to read it! Oh, and it has to have lots of plot twists!
It’s all about getting the lid off a child-proof pill bottle. Grip and twist folks, grip and twist.
Too bored to write a blurb? Just repeat the same words over and over in different orders.
Seems like the author had several options and couldn’t make up their mind to pick one.
