Murder, Lies & Chocolate

Even among “tee-hee, murder is so cutesy” cozy mysteries, this one is too much.

The other three books in the series have covers that are not too bad, they need some font lessons, but at least the skull and crossbones don’t look quite as thrown-on-at-the-last-minute. In the first book, fixing the font problem would produce a very nice and descriptive cover. The fourth book’s cover is actually playful enough to look like an interesting read.

What is that stuff in the dish? I know it’s supposed to be chocolate but it’s lumpy and if you view it in a larger size, it has weird dark streaks that make it look like old pudding left in the fridge too long.

It looks like it belongs in a toilet instead of a dish. And I’m not just talking the skull and crossbones.

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Unfortunately, the author’s talent is writing and story telling, and she is at the mercy of the cover gods. Or demons, as the case may be.
