A Mortal Indiscretion; Author’s Cut

“A Mortal Indiscretion is a vampire romance with a twist.” And a semicolon.

Author’s cut? Are gag-reel outtakes included?

I’m assuming it includes all the pointless repetitive crap her editor told her to take out.

Not only is the aspect ratio off, the book must be set in Australia since the moon in inverted.

The top in that image of the moon is actually the left side in a view of the moon from the northern hemisphere. I get dizzy trying to figure out how to orient myself to see the moon that way.

“A Mortal Indiscretion; Author’s Cut”
I can accept a semi-colon as a break in text.
But there is a clear break on the title page [newline] so there is no need for a semicolon to indicate a break.
But then, my style would be to transcribe a book cover
A Mortal Indiscretion
Author’s Cut
to text as “A Mortal Indiscretion: Author’s Cut”, colon for subtitles. etc. not semicolon.

As opposed to what? An Immortal Indiscretion? I guess that means that Odin, Zeus, Jupiter and the gang won’t be making an appearance. Eh?

I’ll bet not one self-pub in 50 buys either Brown on Self-Editing, CMOS, or any of the usual go-tos for grammar, punctuation, and the like.

WHY NOT?

Because then they’d have to read, and I have a feeling a lot of the “authors” we see here haven’t seen a lot of books.

Self-Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne and Dave King, recommended by Library Journal (I’m hoping maybe indie small press authors and cover makers will follow up).

I do not believe that there is a such thing as “Vampire Romance with a Twist”. It’s all been done already.
Also, that moon is slightly egg-shaped.
Oh, and: 24.99 for this thing in paperback?! If I’m going to pay that much for a book, it had better look nice, and this one just looks lazy.
