The Fire of Kings

Nepotism can be an ugly, ugly thing.

Happy dragon wearing lipstick. Okay…

I like this cover. It’s arresting and intriguing. With only two colors, it’s very well done, IMHO. No problem with nepotism if the results are good.

My only concern is that the book is in the fantasy genre and has something to do with dragons — not a cook book! 🙂

This cove is so much better than the dreck we see on LBC.

You must get eyestrain (and brain overload) at times looking at and sifting through all these horribly bad covers, Nathan. Thank you for doing so and providing us with such a hilarious and also educational website. The comments are terrific, too.

Happy New Year — I’m looking forward to more bad covers for 2016.

Except, it looks terribly familiar… Oh, yeah:comment image

You’ve got to view it full-size to really appreciate all the little details: The uneven curves of those hard-edge lines, the smudge-stick mistakes, the weird striations on the background…

His bio says he’s 42, which would make his daughter probably, oh, 12-17? Sounds about right.

Big assumption there, bro. It could be his wife; his sister, his daughter…his mum, for all we know. Hell, for all we know, it’s his “other” name when he dresses up in lady-clothes.

It’s his daughter. His bio lists the names of his children.

I submitted a different cover by this same pair awhile back:

The Look Inside on one of his books says his wife’s name is Barbara, for what it’s worth.

I guess this is an improvement over the previous one, although his Amazon author page is full of LBCs.

For some reason (maybe the clenched fist), I hear this dragon snickering like Beavis and/or Butthead.

“Yeah-Yeah-Yeah FIRE!”

POSRE: I like the title.

It honestly feels wrong to mock the drawing when the artist put so much effort into the scales… I can just hope that someone with this much patience will eventually get better.
