Parts of this are pretty cool – remind me of the covers to some of the sheet music Mom purchased in the 1970s for her piano students. The Art Nouveau font for the title is rather snazzy, and the colors almost work. It’s mainly a little too busy. If I were making this design, I’d have left out the B/W image of the microphone and saxophones and the big curved “Jazz”. And, of course, cut the byline down to the author’s name (and maybe a co-author), possibly in a more elegant but easily readable font.

Yeah, don’t design a cover for a jazz book to look the way thrash band “music” sounds.
Well, it’s colorful. And the designer made a place for his name, on the cover.
BTW: i like jazz.
