With the titles of the previous book fresh in mind (Hiram’s War and Cornelia’s Journey), my few remaining brain cells mashed up this one into Jasper’s Reckoning, probably because the “headlights” reminded me of a documentary I saw several years back called Horatio’s Drive, about a fellow named Horatio who drove all they way from California to somewhere in New England in one of those newfangled horseless carriage contraptions along with his dog. I don’t know what that has to do with anything, other than coming from nowhere like a photobombing Wolfie caught in the headlights (oops–that’s a different cover).
