At first I didn’t even pick up on the Nagilum; it looked like there was a donut hanging off of one of those towers.

(No, I have no idea why anyone would want to hang a donut off of the top of a castle, but I have no idea why lousy cover designers do many of the things they do.)

I heard a couple years ago that Simon Hawke (who was my fav writer during early High School) had got his copyrights back and was going to start re-releasing his books. Unfortunately, although his stories are great, he does not seem to have any experience with cover art. 🙁
