Maybe it shouldn’t surprise me. She wrote “Measure of a Man” for Star Trek: TNG, but she also wrote “Up the Long Ladder.” She could miss as spectacularly as she could hit.
Regardless of the inconsistent writing, surely she can afford some kind of graphic artist. I am certainly not an artist by any stretch yet even I could have made a better cover with those elements.

Alas, indie reissues from established writers often look no better than indie originals.
