Jak Barley, Private Inquisitor and the Case of the Dark Lords Conspiracy

Jak Barley, Private Inquisitor and the Case of the Dark Lords Conspiracy

I know that I’ve seen too many crappy covers when I see this and think, “At least the skeleton isn’t being raped by the troll-thing.” (h/t DED)

Wait wait wait…

Is it supposed to be “The Dark Lord’s Conspiracy”? You know, the conspiracy of the Dark Lord (presumably not Voldemort).

Or is it supposed to be “The Dark Lords’ Conspiracy”? Like, there’s more than one Dark Lord.

Or…is it really “The Dark Lords Conspiracy”? As in, a conspiracy which involves more than one Dark Lord, but does not originate from them?

Shouldn’t it be the Dark Lady’s Conspiracy? Because that skeleton has boobs.

I click the image, zoom in and see that the skull, hand and feet are pasted on. The robe may have been on a lady in the orginal pic. Lady skeletons don’t have boobs, just ribs. You have to look at the shape of their hips to tell. So that image would be wrong even if it were a lady skeleton.

What do the floating sword, floating book, floating crystal and floating demon thingie have to do with anything? There’s a whole lot of floating going on in this cover.

I thought the demon thingie might be stuffed and mounted on the wall.

Still doesn’t explain the other floating stuff, though.

That would’ve been my guess too if it wasn’t for the other floating stuff. If that’s meant to be a logo of some sorts it needs to be more compact

That is one skeleton who TOTALLY loves his job. At least, I THINK he’s a guy… he kind of has, boobs…

And I love how the demon is just soooo blown away by the awesomeness of the title too. It’s a happy little picture all round!

Yikes. That is the point. It is a bad cover since it is a humous novel poking fun at fantasy books.
