A Dragon’s Bond

It’s like a half-dozen half-executed ideas.

I can’t blame you for (successfully) wanting to forget seeing this cover.

For the record, folks, the tags are different.

I thought it looked familiar… glad I’m not *totally* insane. 😉

Just my opinion but I think this famous “floating eyes” covered novel sold in spite of the cover, not because of it. Imitation of the theme is kinda stupid. It may draw comparison. It won’t make you the next F. Scott Fitzgerald or your book the next Great Gatsby. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gatsby_1925_jacket.gif

I’m pretty sure there is a cover design blog out there somewhere giving out horrid advice like:

‘Eyes draw in a reader, use them and only them. Floating if possible. Use The Great Gatsby as inspiration!’
‘Nothing sells like a face. It doesn’t matter if the person in the picture looks excited or not, just use a face! Stretch to fit as needed.’
‘Add mystery by placing a silhouette on the cover. Bonus points if it is over bad real life photos so it looks out of place. Extra bonus points if the silhouette has no discernible features and is in a cliche pose.’

I want to find this blog and stop it.
