I’m afraid to ask who or what awards the “Self Published Book Worth Reading 2016” award. (Never mind–I looked, but for inexplicable reasons, the website that awarded it says that the contest or award or whatever is “on hold.” Un-hunh.)
The general idea of this cover isn’t horrible, but it needed better execution, and NONE of those award medallions, IMHO.
I went and read the Amazon preview of this, expecting to see the usual semi-literate dross. Quite a surprise – it was actually rather engaging and I didn’t see any off-putting typos or clunky grammar or anything: almost tempted to buy the damn thing to see how the story pans out.
All of which makes this godawful cover that much more of a shame.

I could be unkind and say some of these authors are from a generation accustomed to getting trophies for showing up and participating.
The awards are self-awarded.
