The Heart of Hannen

I can’t decide which part of this I hate the most.

That “thing” on his chest supposed to be armor or a tattoo? Or a giant leech? And what’s up with the papier mache worm there in the lower left? Lizard head on Dachshund body.

I can dig the background imagery. The guy’s hair is kinda okay–just it’s a photo of real hair and the rest of this is so not real.

Don’t even get me started on the guy’s pose. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Gorilla dude bring knives…

“BOOK I IN THE…” Um, yeah. If the first I is supposed to be a 1, then is the trilogy (Lord, help us) the “ATR1IAN” or “ATR11AN” or “ATRI1AN” or “ATRIIAN”?

Font choices – ALL of the letters and numbers matter.

I think they were going for a Roman numeral kind of thing–much classiness, you know.

I’ve never seen a tattoo with a drop shadow before.

There are drop shadows behind everything: the tattoo, the guy, the little paper maché beastie. Everywhere except behing the freaking title!

Shadows don’t work that way anyway. Gee.

With the blood on the masked guys face did he try to shave with one of those knives?

The woman looks flat. Like a photo copy that’s been bent.

When I see a totally decent background image butchered that way, all I can think is: watermark. Because there’s absolutely no justification whatsoever for messing up a cover that way, other than to try to hide something.

Seriously, I’m with Sirona, I could totally dig the background. Add to it a decent contrasting font that represents the book’s genre, and voilà! Tasteful book cover.

Nice croc tats. Nice mask, too. Or is that also a tat?

Nice Croc-Doggie. A pet? Look! He’s begging. How cute.

Yup, this entire cover is, uhm, cute…

Oh, BTW, I hope he didn’t just castrate himself. That’ wouldn’t do the redhead behind him much good, would it?
