Dropshadows are capricious. You never know when they’re going to show up or which way they’ll lean.
I think the aspect ratio problems would be pretty apparent even if that round (and unreadable) font weren’t there to call extra attention to it.
Try reading that at a reduced size. It’s like the title and byline are camouflaged.
