Anytime I see a review/blurb at the top of a book cover, my first reaction is that the book sucks.
Trying too hard…
I won’t argue the cover, but Tsetsi can actually write. She isn’t one of the typical self-glorifying wannabe authors out there. This book, when she self-published it, was known as Homefront and received real, rave reviews. The cover was better too. See it here. After the book was picked up by a small publisher, the title and cover were changed. I think that was a mistake on both accounts.
Wow. WOW. And the publisher actually think it deserves a cut of the profits for what it did to the book? It should be sued for malpractice.

At first I thought that liquor bottle? was a spool of thread.
Also, if that’s supposed to be milk, why not a milk carton?

Normally I wouldn’t comment on this, but it didn’t seem fair to allow the publisher to take credit (or blame?) for the cover. As the self-published title “Homefront,” the book was doing well review-wise, but not sales-wise. After several years of failed marketing, I wanted to give it new life and remove the narrow focus the title “Homefront” seemed to be giving it. So, I chose the new title, and I worked with an artist on the cover (which, yes, is supposed to be surreal, and the bottle is a vodka bottle – modeled off of Smirnoff). The publisher who took on Pretty Much True… is, as many are, low in funds and agreed to use the cover art I provided. Missouri Breaks Press has my undying gratitude for publishing Pretty Much True…, but I take all the responsibility for the cover art and title.

I must say that the original cover was orders of magnitude better. Maybe you should have changed only the title.
The placement of the title seems to undercut the glowing review at the top!
