I guess it is all the horse riding that wears away the legs and hips.
oh wait! Maybe they are free floating three quarter torso, vaporous apparitions. Could explain her glow and the slight transparency of the guy.

Finally, someone on a cover seems to realize how ridiculous everything looks around her.
You heartless people! Obviously it’s about two people who are missing legs and refuse to clothe their chests learning to get back in the saddle…without a horse or a saddle…
