Heck, I can’t parse it any which way, either with or without punctuation. Unless ‘Lazarus Curse’ is somebody’s name?
With a line break in the middle? Between Lazarus and Curse? Nyet. Old Kaiser Soze there (and don’t even TRY to tell me that’s not the influence!) doesn’t know from colons, semi-colons, or anything else that might make that fragment make sense. I mean, look at the variants:
“Lazarus, Curse the First Secret!”
Lazarus: Curse, the First Secret.
Lazarus Curse: The First Secret
Lazarus Curse–the First Secret
Lazarus; Curse the First Secret
Lazarus Curse, The First Secret
…and, just for fun, the dying utterance of a character in the prologue…
“Lazarus….Curse….the……First…Secret……..” (expires).
{sigh}.
I think you are right with “Lazarus Curse: The First Secret” but I would go with the idea it is the “Lazarus Curse” series “The First” book “Secret” or “Lazarus Curse – The First: Secret” just because.
