Why are we throwing a paper airplane at that red planet (at least, I’m assuming it’s a planet)? Apparently the means of waging war are going to get weird between now and 2081.

Why are we throwing a paper airplane at that red planet (at least, I’m assuming it’s a planet)? Apparently the means of waging war are going to get weird between now and 2081.
Maybe it is an astronomical scale mouse pointer? It could be that the whole thing was a game.
