It’s Me, Samantha: The Ghost Of Samantha Harrington

I wonder how many readers this cover has actively discouraged?

Don’t you hate it when your planning to spend a girls’ night watching chick flicks and eating popcorn, and a ghost shows up? It completely throws off your entire schedule.

As bad as the rest of it is, I find myself transfixed by that little bit at the end where she lists her other books. “The Author Of Lola’s Secret Molly? Is that some kind of drug reference? Maybe the ‘author’ in question is actually Lola’s ecstasy dealer? And are The Weeping and Prince two books or one? [Yes, I know, but only because I’ve seen the previous cover; I wouldn’t have guessed from this]. And why is the word ‘and’ the only word in that last line that isn’t capitalized?” I’m left with the following impressions:

(1) Someone needed to inform this author in about the 5th or 6th grade that book titles should be underlined or italicized in order to differentiate them from the surrounding text.

(2) Someone needs to inform this author today that while some authors may mention one or two of their other books on the cover, the place for your full “also by this author” list is INSIDE the book.
