Umm, what’s with the little yellow dude standing on the dragon’s haunch there? Weird.
Looks to me like the old Dragon Healer needs to perform some magic medicine on this cover. The dragon itself has some promise but the pixelation…and it looks like the tail is inside-out and/or a corkscrew (it’s just not right).
The tail appears to start halfway up his back instead of where a tailbone would be on any other vertebrate. That’s part of the problem (though you’re right, there’s something wrong with the texture, as well). The dragon also kind of looks like he’s squatting to, you know…

That’s part of the healing process. Dragons can get constipated from eating all those sacrificial virgins.
Not to mention the wings are coming from weird places. Ones that make flight impossible, btw.
I don’t know about tone, but this cover could use some healing of hue, saturation and brightness.
Is the dragon the healer or the healed?
