All that effort with the gloves, hair, and quill (not sure whether the makeup is accurate for the period but we’ll set that aside for the moment) — why not just rent a dress from a costume shop or have a friend who sews make one? (Even just the top of one?)
The stripes at the top and bottom, the all caps for the title, and the font are not doing much for me, either.

At first glance I thought she was holding a rabbit.
NOT ONE THING in this mess is correct for the period. Period.

It’s not just the model’s dress that seems cut-and-pasted; to me, it looks like her face is too big for her head, or her head is too big for her neck. Maybe one blatantly mismatched thing in a photomanipulation can make everything look wrong.
It’s possible the woman in the photo is the author. (See book cover below). If that’s the case, she might have body issues and is manipulating the cover to look thinner or smaller. Unfortunately it just looks strange.

I guess the wager was whether or not the author could successfully chop a face and neck onto someone else’s body and hair, then paint in the dress so that it looked right. Clearly this wager was lost. If only the difference in skin tone between the original neck/hairline and the pasted on face/neck was the biggest problem…

And really bad PhotoShop C&P blue “dress” too.

Okay, everybody’s hit on the (horrible!) blue dress and the (weird!) fluffy bunny quill pen, but what is UP with her hair? It looks like she did her own updo, but then wasn’t satisfied with it and went back and shopped some texture onto it or something… The pattern on the underside of those braids is too uniform. But she didn’t bother shopping out the flyaways…?
