I don’t think Glen’s quite grasped the “Iain [M.] Banks” thing.
It’s like two different people each put their own version of the title and the byline. And couldn’t agree whose version is better. There are so many covers like this, and for the life of me, I can’t understand how this happens. And the extra title is always on some sort of a frame. Does the publisher get the cover with the title already on it, and then goes, no no no, I need to be the one who puts the title? And I’m putting it on a frame because all good covers need to be framed?
Looks more like The Sky Slightly Off To One Side Of Two Worlds.
It seems to be a “thing.” Notice that in addition to two titles, two subtitles, two bylines, there are two moons and two balls, er, planets?
Oh, wait DUH, I know! It’s ‘cuz, there are two HANDS! Sheesh. It’s so obvious once you see it, right?
