I know, right? I’d never really thought about it before, but ‘shelf’ must be the blandest, most undramatic word in the English language. The Counter-Top, The Ceiling Tile, The Cupboard…? Nope, Shelf has got them all beat for dullness.
Something on the shelf perhaps? I’d buy that. The shelf itself? Just seems completely silly, which, ironically, reflects the quality of this cover art, :-/

Maybe it’s a shelf with teeth. Or fangs. Or a bad attitude. Maybe it tosses everything you put on it on the floor. Maybe it’s the devil.
