I thought I’d take a look and see what the rest of the “Spellmonger” book covers looked like…and discovered a common mistake that I don’t think has been mentioned before.
Although all of the books evidently take place in the same universe and involve the same characters, there is absolutely no visual continuity among the covers. No one would guess in a million years that the books are in any way related…other than that they all have the world “Spellmonger” somewhere on the cover.
Another LBC.com banned font!
That – and a pixilated WTF image.
It’s cousin It with a stick!
Or Cousin Itt with a really long cigarette.
If it’s any consolation, Google image search doesn’t seem to know what it is either.
I’ll play!
It’s……a bird on a branch in front of a pile of dinosaur poop!
Or the Horta from classic Star Trek.
The haystack that ate the farmer!

Wouldn’t it be easier to make all your covers look similar?
Maybe that’s a blessing!
Ooof!
Kerning? What’s that?
Papyrus is notorious for having its kerning set up by elderly giraffes.
I don’t think a professional graphic designer could even kern it properly! (Because we don’t use it)
