I’m wondering that myself. All I can see is a soccer ball. Since Jessica appears to be a cheerleader, perhaps it’s sports equipment crying out for help.

I’m no expert in the art of comics, but I have a feeling that speech bubbles and quotation marks don’t belong together at all.

It’s a book targeted to the Comic Book Generation. Obviously.
You know, I’ve seen comic covers that had word balloons on them.. when done COMPETENTLY, they’re just fine. Competently.
