Eh, I’ll go ahead and say that I think this cover is fine.

The title “Poet’s Tongue” and an eye w/o lashes evokes in my mind’s eye the subgenre of horror art showing eyeballs peeking out of pairs of lips. But that’s just me I guess.
That’s the eye.
Maybe that’s what spirit tongues look like.
Oh, you mean like how when you’re on LDS you can taste colors and see tastes?
Or like those people that see numbers or letters as colors?
Could be. That last one, The Girl Who Saw Words, is apparently about synesthesia, so this one could be too.
