Aside from the dark red text on a dark background thing, I can’t help seeing the tree between the eyes as a very long nose, and the black shape at the bottom as a mustache.
At thumbnail size (what most people would see in those “recommended by your browsing history” ads) it does look like a long nosed face.
On my laptop I get the book page thumbnail at Goodreads in about 150×230 at Amazon in about 230×350. The Amazon books search thumbnail is about 106×160. The footprint does look like a moustache (or a pursed up frown).
People apparently don’t look at their covers at the sizes browsing customers will see, and hit “publish” when quick look and a few tweaks would make it better.
They should also look at it in black and white. I have a black and white ereader and frequently pass over books I’m considering because I can’t see the cover clearly. There are too many other books competing for my attention.
Left brain: La, la, la, la, la, I’d rather be dancing in the woods with the unicorns.
Right brain: Adherence to established walkways will accomplish the objective of reaching my car in approximately 28.64 seconds without undue risk from passing vehicles.
Little voice: ARE YOU GUYS NUTS? WATCH OUT FOR THAT TREE! POW! RIGHT IN THE KISSER! SEE I TOLD YOU SO!

Oh gosh, I had to look back to see that WASN’T the case!

I have a bad feeling that was intentional.

Yeah, I hate it when I get a tree up my nose too.
