I actually like this one – it looks like an old EC comic. Very pulpy.

I agree that it’s an effective cover. But it’s too dark — not enough contrast — and won’t look that good as a thumbnail. And the red/black would merge together in a B&W image.

You know bad kerning is my pet peeve. This may be the worst example I’ve ever seen!
Dear designer: Please fix immediately. How did you (or anyone else) not notice?

You have a point, but I think most people would give it a pass.
It’s a pretty good cover apart from that font issue.
This cover doesn’t offend me. It doesn’t make me want to find out more but I certainly wouldn’t bat an eye if I saw it in a reputable book store.
