Some covers are so abusive one’s mind may repress one’s memory of the trauma. It is a natural defense mechanism that works at the subconscious level.
It is like my near-fatal car wreck–I have no memory of the event. Perhaps one could recover such memories–but it is probably healthier to leave them forgotten.

I recognized this one, too. (I already used some of my brain cells to get a PhD so I wonder what I’ve lost in their place…)
A decent wad of toilet paper should help with those danglers.
