I’ve got the cojones to admit … I’ve read this book. To give Hockett some credit, she tries to include things that pertain to the story. In this case it’s about a couple who take an African Queen-type journey in the Congo. So I guess that thing behind the vase (which I didn’t see until just now) must represent the river/house boat.
The women (Hockett is a mother/daughter writing team) still insist on using floral arrangements for their ebook covers. At first I wondered, “Can’t they see how bad this looks?” But now I’ve begun to suspect this is their schtick. I mean, any time you see a thumbnail of a floral arrangement, you’ll probably think, “Aha, a Kathryn Hockett book!”
RI\ R OF
PASSION
No river. No passion. And WTH is on the wall behind the vase of… feathers?
This poor misguided soul thinks she is a photographer and a cover designer. She is neither.
Positive comment? The flowers match the feathers.
I would say that they were at least a good floral arranger as my positive comment… but… my lips shall remain sealed.
Photobombing house.
Feel the passion! No? I guess the river done dried up.
I have decided that the house is actually a photobombing boathouse. The blue sheet is the missing river.
Aaahh! We’re headed for a waterfall! Just past that giant potted plant!
Most of the letters in RIVER OF P ASSION are kerned almost correctly.
