I’m guessing this image is actually from the point of view of the titular invisible man: his retinas are just slightly less transparent than the rest of him, which is how he’s able to see anything at all while invisible; but spotting his translucent retinas seemingly floating in the air is also how you can catch him if your eyesight is sufficiently good and you’re looking carefully enough.
