And now, we get to spend a month trying to reignite our faith in humanity by examining covers which have been modified or replaced since their original posting on This Here Site. You remember how this works: Grab the little handle on the right of the original image and pull across to see the most recent version.
There are some heartening improvements in today’s batch, as well as some frustratingly pointless lateral moves.
I think Castle Bleu (what is happening to his neck?!?) went backwards, as did Arcadis Fire with its now completely illegible title (and I’m not even going to ask about the pink thing dangling from the front of his trousers)
I feel like Hunter/Lure/Decoy is the most creative new offering, but the elements haven’t been put together in quite the right way. I don’t know that I would call it the best of the improved covers, but it shows potential, unlike the improved covers that have gone from bad to mediocre. (Squirm only improved to “less bad”)
Ask your mother.
Her and my grandmother both would’ve laughed. The apples do not fall far from our family tree, lol
“THE” actually looks like a book cover now.
(Still no clue what it’s about, though.)
Whatever praise I can find for the new version of “Bigfoot the Horrible” boils down to saying that a Bigfoot book cover actually showing a Bigfoot is not something one sees every day.
I preferred, by a LOT, Bigfoot before. It had the tongue-in-cheek, homaging the turn-of-the-century headlines down pat. I find the cover now…well. Unappealing, let’s say that.
The Decoy Hunter’s Lure or …whatever that title is, is technically a much superior cover, no argument except for the pesky fact that I can’t tell what the damn title IS???
Yes, The Phoenix Project is vastly improved, again, from a composition standpoint and all that. That part is well-done.
The two Bigfoot covers are appropriate for very different audiences.
Yes, you know what? You are right. As an adult, I prefer the former, but…if it’s a kid’s book or tween… there’s no argument.
Did Davey and Derek actually change? I honestly can’t find the difference between the new cover and the old.
Yes: They stretched it and made it worse thereby.
Yeah, aspect ratio abomination.
