And can I ask, why the hell are the main characters so freaking blurry? are they, er, “homaged” from some other cover (perhaps, she wondered, from the 1980’s?)

That’s a rather curious title, too; is it saying the protagonists aren’t “warm” (whatever that’s supposed to mean) anymore? That brings to mind this cover:
