Demonstrate your civic mindedness and your good judgment by voting in the first annual Lousies awards to choose the worst of the worst posted in 2020. It’s like getting back at the year!
There are several incremental improvements in today’s installment of New Covers For Old 2021, plus enough honest-to-Zod upgrades that your faith in humanity may not be entirely extinguished.
Unbowed is an achievement, Killer at the door is really good considering the past version. And Isis… Well, I’m hurt again; a regular-to-good waifu artwork pasted over a meh design.
I, Walter and Unbowed are the only genuine improvements I can see. Mademoiselle at Arms comes close, but loses some points for the typography (the author’s name jumps out blatantly while every effort seems to have been made to obscure the title).
(I am afraid that I am not in the least impressed with Isis. Aside from a cartoon/caricature being seemingly inappropriate for the nature of the book, it is not very well drawn: just go to the Amazon preview and take a look at that hand holding the mirror!)
I have a hard time giving I, Walter any credit because of the way that the type is cut off on the left edge. Maybe it’s just me, but that makes it look incredibly amateurish no matter how good the rest of it might be.
I see what you mean. I had assumed that what was posted had been simply badly cropped…but I see that the cover looks the same on its Amazon listing.
