I admit I was expecting much worse – like a horribly illustrated cover by some untalented hack (akin to what I could produce :)). Pretty lady but it doesn’t convey much else.
For this particular book, I would argue that a contemporary photograph of a woman who looks nothing like Anne Shirley is just as bad as a hack illustration.

Anne’s eyes changed to blue.
They were brown in the last cover.
Are they different Annes?
Does Anne use colored contacts?
