Is it me or is the text out of focus? I’m also not a fan of the teal.
Some imagery related to the story hidden in the fabric might be nice.
I may be a bit picky, but I hate how fake that sword looks. It’s too flat; it has no fuller and an insane secondary bevel.
Although it has some faults (especially colour clashes, shadows on letters, layout of text) I think this one actually looks pretty good. Certainly not ‘ain’t barely trying’ – more like ‘trying but ain’t quite there yet’. Better than the others in the series.
I agree. While boring, I would not categorize it as lousy. My books have had covers far worse than this.
