I find most times these people apparently live in an enclave of precious snowflakes, a Victorian timewarp, or a nunnery, since when I pick up a book advertised as having lashings of offensive, violent and depraved sex – I mean content, CONTENT – I am generally disappointed. None of these people have read Naked Lunch I guess.
Just read the book. In about ten minutes. Detected one rather mild four-letter word and some rather trite political incorrectness. The cover does not oversell . . .
Nathan,
I think you mean “moderately crutical.”
“Thoughts of an Old Man and a Young Woman, that’s what she said!”
— nope
From the same author who wrote: “How to Create Useful Idiots” and “Mind Tripping.”
No, seriously.
Don’t be rediculous.
Bruce,
You forgot the subtitle for Mind Tripping – “75 Trips and a sexual adventure.”
Also – from the “About the Author (Ernest Kinnie):”
“My friend Janis Hoffman, who wishes to remain anonymous, is writing about . . .”
Does anyone else see something wrong with this statement?
Oh god no, he didn’t!!!
Bwahahaaaa! Maybe if she spelled it “anonimous” he would understand.
For the genre, I would give this cover a pass. But the typo is unforgivable.
Is it just me, or are people who say “not for the easily offended” always the sort who have an unwarranted sense of self-importance?
Not just you, dear. And they’re also often the most offendable people out there. Especially when we critique their covers. 😉
True story.
It’s usually shorthand for ‘I’m allowed to offend people, but don’t you dare tell me I’m being offensive or point out my flaws.’

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGH that’s one of my least favorite misspellings.
Sharing a blog I wrote for my publisher regarding book covers, in cae anyone cares:

I enjoyed the blog post, Kris. Well said.
