Why yes, we’ve heard that old saying. I file it right with “Lightning never strikes twice” and “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” and everything else that’s repeated and repeated even though it’s false.
Not to mention–it’s completely untrue. I find that using covers as a barometer of how much care went into the making of the entire book works pretty damn good. I’d pass up the book that this cover was on. I’d assume that if the author doesn’t even care enough to NOT use distorted images, s/he didn’t bother taking care of the book, either.
It’s kind of a shame, b/c the LITB has some promise.

Why did you take a photo of your girlfriend staring through a dirty fish aquarium and why did you think that would make a nice cover photo?

The collision of the planet of mushrooms and the planet of the giant heads. A Third Rock from the Sun flashback?
Have you ever heard the old saying never judge a book by it’s cover? It could use some touching up! Otherwise this is a pretty cool cover!

Another one is “It’s not lupus.”
Haha “some touching up”, okay buddy.
Yes. I’ve heard that old saying.
How does it apply to judging book covers on their merits as book covers?
