Art I like as a bad cover. Sigh. Well executed painting, and I appreciate the Asian influence, but the main character is very hard to see. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out it was Death personified with a scythe riding a horse. Not good for a book cover. Potential readers will move right passed it. Plus the really lame font.
It’s an engraving by Gustav Dore, “Death on the Pale Horse,” although the cover designer has inverted the colors. The original can be found on Wikipedia Commons:

Do you recognize the art? Is it a classical work I can’t place?

Thanks! The reversed color is why I assumed it was contemporary. I should have seen it was a manipulated image.
Plus the really lame font.
That would make a great Posren Book Endorsement quote: “The really lame font … [is a big] … plus.”
I know who will be first against the wall…
So sad that there are so few other fonts to pick from that would be more appropriate.
Look Inside! and the credits page does not source the art. Plus negative filter, blur, squish aspect. Boo! Hiss! Bad book!
No PosRein for you!
