Call me crazy, but I really like this cover. I honestly don’t think the artwork is that bad; just impressionism. I like the fractured font and the broken flower.

There’s no accounting for taste. But this is high quality stuff compared to most covers on here.

I think the art is charming, except for the blue background. That bit looks gooey and kind of heavy-handed.

My thought exactly! It’s the blue background that kills this one. And the clash of styles between the title font and the artwork.

I agree, this cover could be quite serviceable with some tweaking. The type could be repositioned a little so it fits the space better. And “Defective” could use a stronger visual play, something like being in uppercase and resembling a REJECT stamp (a defective one, with broken, missing, backwards, upside down, or dangling letters). Red type might actually work if it’s legible.

Yup. I agree with you, Red: this is a salvageable one.

Agreed with all the above. I kind of like this too. Some lightening to the background would make it feel less weighty, and put a bit more oomph to the title. It’s not super spectacular–won’t win any awards–but it’s not embarrassing and awful either. Long way from it.

I agree that this one’s not bad. Not fantastic, but not bad.

Ditto to all the above. The author’s name also is a little jarring: a little more thought regarding its position and font might be worthwhile.

I like this one, tweak it a little and we are good.

I like this one. The blue background could be lighter. I think the broken flower could be lower to accommodate the title better. Otherwise, it works.
