I didn’t know the ocean had a bamboo floor. Nice touch.

Wow! That’s really bad. Most lousy cover builders put at least some effort into their covers. This one shows an appalling lack of effort. Do they not see that the ocean background color doesn’t match the clips? Or that the castle is floating? Ugh.

I took a peek with the “Look Inside” option at Amazon…an equal amount of effort was put into the writing, and the book is $3.99 for 23 pages on the Kindle.

I like the fact that there’s a “declaration of fiction” inside – y’know, in case we thought merfolk were real or something. But the best bit for me is in the blurb: “The Big Island is the southern most island in the Hawaiian Island chain of islands.”

Shouldn’t it be The Mermaid *Who* Visited Hawaii? I think I can see about four different mermaids, maybe more, and I’m not sure if that’s my middle-aged eyesight playing up or the contrast of the garish colours.

The title on Amazon is “The Merfolk That Visited Hawaii”, so I assume the author realized the grammatical error but couldn’t be arsed with changing the cover to match the correct title.

The author’s a cute little Hawaiian grandmother type. She needs to have her grand kids help her with PC skills–or better yet, let them do her covers (well, except for the 8 -year-old who was clearly consulted for this one).

I wonder if those sail boats are dumping the clip art into the cover.
