That other doomsday book (“Doomsday”) also had a cover showing a couple on a carefree recreational outing. These apocalyptic book covers here are as appropriate as re-issuing “I Am Legend” with a cover showing the protagonist in his garden pruning his rose bush.
I think you may be underestimating the mad skillz of an accomplished rosebush pruner 😉

Ah, but you don’t realize that these two are already under the mind control of the little alien riding on his back. The planet has been invaded and these midget aliens, posing as innocent babies, are controlling everything the adults do, depriving them of sleep and making them talk in small cute phrases.
They are evil masters! They will enslave you for decades, forcing you to support them. Find shelter while you can!
What really blows my mind is that this book has nearly 100 reviews, with over a four-star average rating, and has healthy sales rankings. All of that was achieved with this cover… THIS COVER!
Imagine how much better this book would be doing if it had a better cover.
