Snatch and Grab

Aha, I see what you did there. Except I can’t.

My first thought was that this was a picture of a uterus holding shopping bags. It gave a whole disturbing new dimsnsion to the “Snatch” part of the tile.

That’s not what a snatch looks like.

I’d almost give this one an “Ooh… so close!” award. I think the color palette is gorgeous, the fonts and type are nice and strong, and I even like the texture effect, though that does have a certain feel of “something I found while randomly clicking buttons in Photoshop.”

But then there’s that great big WTF in the middle, and the inexplicably bitten-in-half handcuffs… If only she had shown this image to *one* other person without first telling them what it’s supposed to be, she might have learned something from the blank stare on that beta-viewer’s face.

I absolutely agree, especially about the colors. Change the mess in the middle and you have a pretty decent cover.

Are those pinks things ovaries or picture hooks?

They’re her thumbnails with pink nail polish. Yes, I looked deep into the textural void and found thumbs. In this context it makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?

So… Those are a woman’s hands holding the shopping bags, and her hips are in the background, and she’s handcuffed, which is why her hands are together and why half of the handcuffs are invisible… and… she’s wearing gloves that leave the pink-nail-polished tips of her thumbs exposed???

Agh, I’m thinking about this WAY too much!

Yes! I see it now — her thumbs are crossed!

So any similarity to a uterus is purely coincidental. And the naughty pun in the title is an accident. Or not.

Now my only problem is to figure out those weird capstan spikes on the handcuffs…

The picture used is actually a stock photo used on some couponing sites but the largest size appears to be about 200×300 pixels, and does not include painted thumbnails or handcuffs (but it does have a light background of the inside of a shop which has been poorly removed here). I guess the filters were to cover up how badly the image must have pixelated when blown up to this size.

I was just relieved to find that the original picture was not of a uterus holding shopping bags by the ovaries.

Ah yes! Google image search turns up quite a few hits!

I was just relieved to find that the original picture was not of a uterus holding shopping bags by the ovaries.

Me too. Relieved — and also a tiny bit disappointed 🙂

Is this a variation of the Rorschach (inkblot) test?

It’s a cover AND a psychological test.
