On the Beach

Ironically, it’s not actually on the beach.

Nothing like ripping off Nevil Shute’s classic novel title (and movie — starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, and Fred Astaire) for your own book. Yeah, it’s legal, but very stupid IMHO.

It’s probable the author has never heard of it. I don’t think he’s seen a lot of books.

As the title graphic plainly says . . . Sunny Beach!

But why did they leave out Magritte’s hat and the floating rock?

Couldn’t the author have picked a sandier beach? This just looks like gravel.

Why would there be wooden T.V. cabinets (what are they supposed to be?!) on the beach like that? In the upper corner where it says “An American Story” all that’s missing is a smiley face on that melting sun and then it would look like the smiley sun on the Kellog’s Raisin Bran box. How can there be so many “writers” with delusions of great design? I swear, $1000 couldn’t buy them a clue.

What is “An American Novel”? Is that some new genre or something?

That “beach” is a gravel driveway in front of the asylum where this guy lives.
